LEX login with Microsoft 365 (IT Configuration)

LEX login with Microsoft 365 (IT Configuration)

What’s Required?

Chambers must already have a pre-configured fully licensed & managed Microsoft 365 tenant environment. Opus 2 LEX will not provide or configure this. Chambers IT Administrators (or external IT providers) will be required to make modifications to the Microsoft 365 tenant settings and provide key information to Opus 2 LEX before the service can be enabled.

Once LEX Login with Microsoft 365 is enabled standard login features of LEX will no longer be accessible. Therefore, all LEX users will require profiles within the Microsoft 365 tenant and be fully licensed & trainied prior to the new login process ‘going live’.

What Does It Cost?

LEX Login with Microsoft 365 is a FREE bolt-on addition to LEX. However, management of the implementation and go-live will be billed at our standard hourly rate (£145 plus VAT per hour, capped a maximum of half a day).

Configuration Steps

(IT ADMIN) Register an application in Azure:

Access the 365 tenant’s Azure Active Directory via https://portal.azure.com/

Navigate to manage App Registrations option

Select New Registration

Complete the necessary fields:

Name: Give the registration a name; for example, ‘ABC Chambers LEX’

Support Account Type: MUST be Single Tenant Option

Redirect URL: MUST be an external LEX URL; like ‘https://abcLEX.chambers.com’

Select ‘Register’ to save your selections

Navigate to the Manifest option:

Update the following two parameters to be ‘true’

(IT ADMIN) Extract required IDs from Azure – MUST Provide to Opus 2 LEX:

With the application now registered, the required IDs can be noted and passed to Opus 2 LEX. The details, that can be found in the Overview section, are:

  • Application Client ID
  • Directory Tenant ID

(CHAMBERS ADMIN) Enter Domain Aliases against all LEX User Profiles. The alias MUST match the account they use to log in to Microsoft 365

(Opus 2 LEX) – Opus 2 LEX will arrange a date/time for the necessary LEX system option changes to take place, after which the new login process will be LIVE.

(CHAMBERS ADMIN) Administrator Authentication Login - An administrative LEX user must be the first individual to log in using the new application registration, as they will give the required organisational level permissions to the system:

Once successful, configuration is complete and the system is LIVE.

Showing LEX as a Custom Tile

Within Microsoft 365 - when authentication to LEX is handled by Microsoft 365 it makes sense to place the app amongst other Microsoft apps in Office 365:

To configure this:

(IT ADMIN) Sign in to the admin centre as a Global Administrator, go to Settings > Org Settings, and choose the Organization profile tab.

(IT ADMIN) On the Organization profile tab, choose ‘Custom app launcher tiles’.

(IT ADMIN) Select ‘Add a custom tile’.

(IT ADMIN) Enter the information for the new tile:

a. Tile Name

b. URL

c. URL of tile image

d. Description

For example:

To make the application appear in a prominent position in the app launcher

a. Select ‘All Apps’

b. And via the three dots, select ‘Pin to Launcher’
