Diary Special Dates

Special dates in LEX are used to highlight key dates in the calendar in the same way that bank holidays apply to all. Such as days chambers is closed over Christmas or term dates.


NOTE - Special dates do NOT carry over with the LEXex Diary Sync function.










Configuring Special Dates

Special Dates are configured via the system configuration menu which may only be available to certain user types. This can be enabled if required, otherwise contact LEX Support for help setting these up.











Configuring Special Dates

The Special dates function shows a list of ‘Special Dates’ in a grid format. LEX is automatically updated with public/bank holiday information, however, users can manually add to, or amend existing ‘Special Dates’, using options available in this section.




Adding/Amending Special Dates:


To add a new special date select the add new button highlighted in the image above and you will see the 'Add special date' pop up box. Complete these options as required then click on the green + to add the dates.



Field Descriptions:


TypeA pre-set list of ‘Special Date Types’ are available for selection here. The description of each type will be shown in the LEX Diary, for any configured dates. The following options available are:

  • National Holiday
  • Bank Holiday
  • Chambers Special Date
  • Chambers Closed
  • Court Vacation Date
  • Other

NOTE: Each ‘Special Date Type’ can be assigned its own diary colour. See later in this guidance for further details.


Additional DescriptionIn addition to the ‘Special Date Type’ description, users can add additional descriptive text about the ‘Special Date’ in this field, and it too will also be shown in the LEX Diary.


Can book on this date?This option determines whether users are able to book appointments on the selected ‘Special Date(s)’.


Show as Date Hover Over and Banner Only? -  This option determines whether the ‘Special Date Description’ and ‘Additional Description’ are shown on each Barrister diary row, or whether they are shown only once, in a NEW ‘Banner’ section, added to the top of the LEX Diary.

DatesThe  icon opens up the standard LEX ‘Date Selector’, where users can select single/multiple dates to set as ‘Special Dates’.



Leaving the 'show as date hover over and banner only unticked (recommended) gives users the following views, these show the clerks view of multiple barristers and the barrister multi day view:




Special Dates Colours

Each ‘Special Date Type’ can be associated with its own colour, via System Options – Diary Colours
